KAIZO, stamped on the protective lens of this found automotive headlight, is a japanese word meaning “modify” or “hack.”  KURO means  “black” in japanese. We present to you one of our first ever collective mods with a smoke black film for a muted cool light tone.

Ash has rewired the orginal LED lights to connect to a removable battery pack with an “on/off” switch.  The battery pack has an adapter that plugs into any 120V (home or office) outlet. This allows this unique object to function like any lamp in an interior space. As long as the battery pack is charged, the wall plug can be left behind making KAIZO an on-the-go light source for off-grid activities.

Beatrice has fabricated the stand from mild steel. The stand's crossbar receives a 3/8" black oxide threaded rod with hardware that can be adjusted to determine the height of the headlight according to user preference. It is available in a friendly, open-armed U shape or an austere closed rectangle. The stand is finished with black powdercoat, evoking automotive manufacturing processes, and is available in gloss or satin.
